The Creatrixx

I had just finished reading a engrossing book about the "Great Mother" archetype shortly before I began working on a simple figure study.  As that study developed, I found myself pondering elements in that book and the "Creatrixx" was born. The painting reflects an interpretation of the 'archetypal feminine' as the 'creative principle' of all things of and in the World. Too, as most inventors, scientists, artists etc., will tell you, creating often involves, metaphorically, 'working in the dark' (blindfold) until there's nothing more to do. A very exacting process.

This painting is custom framed with frame material imported from Italy
